Smith Family Garden Luau brings you into Smith’s Tropical Paradise, a 30-acre garden near the Wailua River. Palms, flowers, peacocks, lagoons and torchlit paths shape the evening before dinner begins, giving this Kauai luau a Garden Isle setting from the start.

After check-in, you can ride the narrated tram through the gardens or walk the grounds on your own. The imu ceremony follows, with the kalua pig uncovered from the traditional underground oven before the buffet opens.

Dinner is served buffet-style with island favorites, local flavors and an open bar. After the meal, you move to the lagoon amphitheater for a Polynesian show with music and dances from Hawaii, Tahiti, Samoa, New Zealand, the Philippines and Japan.

The narrated tram tour is a relaxed way to see more of the property without walking the full grounds. If you prefer to move at your own pace, you can stroll through the gardens before dinner begins.

The imu ceremony is one of the evening’s signature moments. You gather as the kalua pig is uncovered from the earthen oven, connecting the dinner that follows with a traditional Hawaiian cooking method.
