Royal Kona Luau - Royal Kona Resort

Royal Kona Luau, also known as Voyagers of the Pacific, brings you to an oceanfront Big Island luau at Royal Kona Resort in Kailua-Kona. The evening opens to the Kona coast, with sunset light, open-air resort grounds, island arts, Hawaiian-style buffet dinner, music, hula and a Polynesian show.

Your night begins with a shell lei greeting and time to enjoy the oceanfront setting before the imu ceremony. During the ceremony, you can watch the traditional Hawaiian earth oven presentation, where kalua pork is part of the story behind the feast.

The buffet features island favorites such as kalua pork and cabbage, teriyaki beef, fresh island fish, poi, pineapple, coconut rolls, salads, desserts and bar drinks. The Voyagers of the Pacific show brings together stories, songs and dances from Hawaii and the South Pacific, with the Samoan Siva Afi fire dance closing the evening.

Kailua-Kona Oceanfront Setting

Royal Kona Resort is located along the Kona coast in Kailua-Kona, with the luau held in an open-air oceanfront resort setting. If you are staying in Kailua-Kona, along Alii Drive or in nearby Kona resort areas, the evening keeps you close to the west side of the island.

This luau gives you a Kona-style resort night without a long drive to another part of the Big Island. You can arrive for the lei greeting, stay for the imu ceremony and dinner, then finish the night with the fire dance finale by the ocean.

Voyagers of the Pacific Show

The Voyagers of the Pacific show combines music, hula, chant, drums and dances from Hawaii and the South Pacific. The performance has a colorful resort-show style, with island stories, costumes and a high-energy fire dance ending.

The Samoan Siva Afi fire dance is one of the signature moments of Royal Kona Luau. If your group wants a Big Island luau with a dramatic finale, this is the part of the evening many people remember most.

Imu Ceremony, Buffet and Bar

The imu ceremony gives the evening a traditional Hawaiian moment before dinner. After the ceremony, the buffet offers island-style dishes, salads, sides, entrées and desserts.
