Grand Wailea Luau on Maui
Grand Wailea Luau brings you to Maui’s south shore for an oceanfront Wailea evening with sunset views, Hawaiian storytelling, dinner, hosted bar and Polynesian entertainment at the Grand Wailea Resort.
The show shares the story of early Polynesian voyagers and the journey of Moikeha and La'amaikahiki to Honua'ula, the region now associated with South Maui. Music, chant, hula and dance connect the performance to Maui place names, voyaging traditions and stories of gods, goddesses and navigators.
Before dinner, you can take part in cultural activities such as the imu ceremony, Hawaiian lawn games, hula lessons and temporary Polynesian tattoos. During the imu ceremony, the kalua pua'a roast pig is uncovered from the traditional underground oven.
Dinner follows with a buffet, hosted bar and a Polynesian revue featuring music and dances from Hawaii and greater Polynesia. The oceanfront setting, South Maui location and Ali'i Premium Seating option give this luau a polished Wailea resort feel.
Oceanfront Wailea Setting
Grand Wailea Resort is located along Maui’s Wailea coastline, close to beaches, resort paths and South Maui sunset views. If you are staying in Wailea or Kihei, the luau keeps your evening in the same part of the island.
The outdoor setting gives you ocean air and resort service before the show begins. If you are driving from West Maui, Central Maui or Upcountry, allow time for evening traffic, parking, check-in and the walk to the luau area.
The Story of Honua'ula
Grand Wailea Luau centers its show on voyaging, arrival and the lands of Honua'ula. The performance follows Moikeha and La'amaikahiki, then expands into music and dances from Hawaii and across Polynesia.
That South Maui connection gives the evening more than a scenic backdrop. The Wailea location and the story told on stage both point to the region’s name, history and cultural memory.
