Kaula Luau at Ocean's Edge in Ko Olina
Set on an oceanfront lawn in Ko Olina, Kaula Luau pairs a traditional Hawaiian luau feast with a story-driven, theatrical show under the stars. The performance centers on a kupuna (grandmother) and her granddaughter as they travel across oceans and generations to uncover their genealogy and the cultural ties connecting Hawaii, Tahiti and Samoa.
Expect powerful drumming, mele (song), oli (chant), and hula, along with high-energy highlights like acrobatics and the fire-knife dance. The night is also interactive, with hands-on cultural activities and friendly competitions that invite guests to be part of the experience.
"Kaula" means the binding cord-the invisible thread that links us to our ancestors, our stories, and the places we call home. Produced by the Hawaiian Council, Kaula Luau is designed to be rooted in authenticity and Native Hawaiian storytelling, offering a meaningful cultural evening framed by Ko Olina's sunset views.
