Kaula Luau is set on an oceanfront lawn in Ko Olina, pairing a traditional Hawaiian feast with a story-driven theatrical show under the stars. Rather than a typical variety show, this Oahu luau unfolds as one continuous narrative. It weaves Hawaiian, Tahitian and Samoan music and dance into a single journey enhanced by modern lighting, projection and stagecraft.
The performance centers on a kupuna, or grandmother, and her granddaughter as they travel across oceans and generations. Along the way, they uncover their genealogy and the cultural ties connecting Hawaii, Tahiti and Samoa. As a result, Kaula Luau offers a more meaningful evening rooted in Native Hawaiian storytelling.
During the show, guests can expect powerful drumming, mele (song), oli (chant) and hula. In addition, high-energy highlights include acrobatics and the fire-knife dance. The night is also interactive, with hands-on cultural activities and friendly competitions that invite guests to be part of the experience.
"Kaula" means the binding cord, or the invisible thread that links us to our ancestors, our stories and the places we call home. Produced by the Hawaiian Council, Kaula Luau is designed to feel authentic, immersive and culturally grounded. Overall, it is a memorable choice for guests who want an oceanfront Ko Olina luau with sunset views, dinner, storytelling and Polynesian entertainment.
